Proportionality
Proportionality, along with necessity, is one of two factors data controllers should consider as they apply the principle of data minimization, as required by the General Data Protection Regulation. Proportionality considers the amount of data to be collected and whether it is adequate and relevant in relation to the purposes for which it is being processed. Is the processing suitable and reasonably likely to achieve the stated objectives? Are any adverse consequences that the processing creates justified in view of the importance of the objective pursued?
